Puppy policy

In close to 30 years of breeding collies, we have settled on an adoption policy that we feel works best for all concerned.

  1. When a litter is on the ground and we know what we have in terms of gender, color and coat, we let interested parties know.

  2. You may submit a non-refundable deposit to reserve a puppy at this time. We will do our best to match a puppy with your preferences. What puppies are available cannot be certain until we have made our own selection(s) for who will stay here. I do not decided on what puppies will make the 1st cut here at Castlebar Collies until 8 weeks of age.

  3. Companion puppies are typically able to go to their new homes at 8 weeks of age. If we decide to grow out a pick puppy to determine if we will keep him or her, it may take a couple of weeks more.

  4. All pups will have their eyes checked (by a board certified canine ophthalmologist), a vet check, and their first vaccination by 8 weeks of age.

  5. We do not allow puppy visits until after they have had their first shot. In many years of breeding and raising puppies, we have heard too many horror stories about pups that became ill after early visitors inadvertently brought in some kind of germ. We err on the side of caution. Our foremost consideration is the health of our puppies and adult dogs.

  6. Your balance due for your puppy is paid when you pick him or her up. At that time, you will also get a certificate of pedigree, an AKC registration form, a certified eye check report, and a shot and worming record.

This protocol has served us well for many years. We have enjoyed healthy, happy puppies for a long time, and

our collie puppy families appreciate the care that goes into raising a beautiful collie.
